Sherman Sorem

Sherman Lee Sorem was born on March 8, 1935 in marshalltown Iowa, the son of Otis and Irene Kjormoe Sorem. Raised and educated in the area of his birth, he graduated from Marshalltwon High School with the class of 1953. He attended Marshalltown Community College for two years and the University of Iowa for a year and a half, and during that time also served in the U.S. Airforce for four years. On September 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Nancy Koehler in Marshalltown. Sherman was employed by Fisher Controls for thirty-six years, retiring in 1996 as a cost estimating manager. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees and boards including the board of trustees and finance committee. Sherman is survived by his wife of forty-six years. Nancy Sorem of Marshalltown, three sons: Scott(Susan)Sorem of Gladbrook; Jeff Sorem of Nevada; and Ted (Kim) Sorem of Marshalltown; and seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Dan, Katy, Tyler,, Sydney, Lexi & Jadyn Sorem. He was preceded in death by his parents.
